Deletion of WEST BENGAL symbol/emblems[edit]
Why the hell did you delete this logos? Are you stupid or what?? Don't you understand the sanctity or importance of these files?
I had to serve three non-deletion requests for all three files you deleted. This image is very important as it serves as the symbol or emblem of the Indian state of West Bengal, it's government and all it's official institutions. All other states of India including the given state's counterpart Maharashtra have their symbols (emblems) intact and not deleted.
You are a person who has stupidly deleted these symbols. Your deletion request already stands false as you stated that these logos were launched in 2011, wherein reality, they were launched in 2018. Moreover, they are public domain logos of the State Govt. of West Bengal, not copyrighted. The bot has deleted this symbol from all West Bengal pages on Wikipedia.
This image needs to get undeleted immediately. This is a matter of the sanctity of the biggest and most important region of India. You, being a resident of Bengal initiated such stupid actions which has ruined West Bengal related pages which look unofficial now due to absence of logos, instead of improving WB articles or participating in Wikiproject: West Bengal.
If these files remain deleted, what the hell will you do? Have you devised any way to re-upload those images? For what stupid reason you drafted that deletion request for West Bengal emblem when other state emblems are intact and no one is deleting them? Rourib.2004 (talk) 13:22, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Rourib.2004: First and foremost, please talk to me politely. I won't support any form of personal attacks to any users. If the emblems of West Bengal are really in public domain, you can request undeletion at COM:UNDELETE. I had requested deletion of West Bengal emblems (I don't have the rights to delete or undelete files, only admins and bots can do) because I thought they were copyrighted by the state. It is not about sanctity or importance of files, it is about a possible copyright violation, which is not allowed in Commons. I have previously requested several suspicious images for deletion. If my decision is wrong, just say so, no need to start a personal attack. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 14:22, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- On improving West Bengal articles and WikiProjects, I already do so in Bengali Wikipedia, see my account there. I can't work in English Wikipedia due to a ban imposed for personal attacks on February 2021. You are welcome in Bengali Wikipedia, as long as you are able to read and write Bengali articles. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 14:26, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- Please see Undeletion.
- Now, since you nominated and got those symbol and flags deleted, what do you envisage now? All the articles of West Bengal are now empty and devoid of the official emblem of West Bengal.
- Do you want them to remain empty? All Maharashtra articles have their emblem intact, and all other Indian states. Have you thought of fixing these issue anyhow?
- — By Re-uploading the logo/emblem and flags with proper licensing info which you deleted?
- — You could have tweaked the licensing info of these files, like those of other states instead of proposing them for deletion.
- — Bot has deleted the emblem symbol from all the pages related to West Bengal. Even if the logo is newly re-uploaded, who will place these logo in all the WB articles one by one (manually)? You have created a very big mess. Did you want all these articles to be devoid of the emblem?
- What is your vision. Please reply to these queries. Rourib.2004 (talk) 21:02, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- Again, the tone should be polite. I have no conspiracy associated with the emblems. I'm just too sensitive with possible copyright violations. Only admins can undelete deleted images and you can request them to do so in COM:UNDELETE. And yes, I should have altered the licensing info instead of requesting deletion. Until the SVG emblem is restored, you can use Govt. Of West Bengal(Bidhannagar Government College).png, which essentially the same emblem in PNG. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 03:35, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- Will you please, for once look into this matter, which you caused: Undeletion. This request, which was going for more than 2 days had so many interruptions by a single user who claims to be the protector of copyrights, the files even got restored once, but that single user made sure to put his claims in such a way that these files never return to Wiki (he seemed to be hating me or West Bengal), and thus it got ultimately got rejected. Now I am stuck in the admin's talk page, begging for the undeletion of those three files. Can you atleast participate in the latter one? You didn't come even once in the undeletion request for your mistakes. Those three files had links to all West Bengal related pages and their undeletion is the only solution, as re-uploading them again will not make anyone do the effort to insert the emblem and flag in each article one-by-one. Even if by chance, the administrator does not agree, what will happen, mister? All other states of India, including our counterpart Maharashtra, have their symbols intact on commons (despite having exactly same licensing info, of being on PD-India and being self-drawn vectorised images by the authors from official state government sources, as that of West Bengal), whereas our cursed state of West Bengal has none.
- From where I will find these three files which include the svg format emblem, png format emblem and the svg format flag????:

Please don't come again with those politeness advisories or civil behaviour rants. This is the matter of the sanctity and officiation of the Indian state of West Bengal. I can't believe that a Bengali, like you, can do this, with their own state. I too live in the same district as yours, but you ruined all of us.

Request for doing this 3 things[edit]
@Sbb1413 Sir,
I am a normal wikipedian. I am trying to do this three things but I am failing. Would you kindly please do this three things for me. It would be very helpful if you do it. Although I am from Bangladesh and this is about a bangladeshi school. As a brother please help me to do this three things. Now I am telling you what three things should be done:
- 1.Can you create a open street map way id? If you can then create a way id for bir uttam shaheed samad school & college. Coordinates: 25°46'8.00"N, 89°13'5.45"E. It is marked in black in the map, all you have to do make a way id by the line I have marked. You can vet the location by the locations.
- 2. I have uploaded an image in the wikidata. But In the commons when I search the name bir uttam shaheed samad school & college the image is not seen the info box. Please solve that.
- 3. Please translate this bangla wikipedia article to english wikipedia and publish it in the english wikipedia.
- Article: bn:মিলিটারী ইঞ্জিনিয়ার সার্ভিসেস (বাংলাদেশ)
- Please do this 3 things for me.
I hope you have understand it all. Please do it as soon as possible.
Thank you
Rishad Talukdar (talk) 00:24, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- I'll complete your first two requests, but I'm unable to complete the third one (translating the Bengali article to English), since I'm completely banned from English Wikipedia. You can translate the Bengali article to English by yourself, as long as the translation is recognisable ("bodhgomyo") to average English speakers. - @Sbb1413 Sir,
open street way map id

Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 11:08, 17 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Sbb1413 Sir,

Roads[edit]

- This is the result of the consensus at Commons:Categories for discussion/2022/06/Category:Streets named after Kyiv. It has been found in the discussion that streets are types of roads. However, you can start a new CFD if you want to challenge the consensus. Otherwise, you can use Highways for intercity roads. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 02:52, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
- Very interesting. However, this should not be decided under such a discussion. The tenor of the discussion is different and the separation of Streets and Roads has been handled in this way for years. It is just a single opinion in the discussion. Decisions of this magnitude must be made centrally in the proposals (Village pump). --XRay 💬 08:55, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Update request[edit]
Hello.
Can you update the maps of India, which need to include the borders of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Telangana?
The internal borders of India urgently need to be updated.
The borders of the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh which were created in 2019, and the borders of the State of Telangana, which was created in 2014, need to be drawn in the maps of India, which are very widely used in hundreds of articles across Wikipedia.
There is a risk, that new maps of India can be created from these still obsolete maps, and uploaded without the new borders.
These maps are categorized under the Category:SVG locator maps of states in India (red location map scheme).
I also requested an update of these maps in Commons:Graphic Lab/Map workshop.

Trans-Karakoram Tract in China[edit]
File:Kashmir religions.svg says "Pakistani-administered Kashmir, Siachen and Trans-Karakoram Tract are assumed to be majority Muslim." But Trans-Karakoram Tract is China PRC administered. So I made this change, but I'm not sure if that's what you meant or what your map intends to say, so please correct me if there's any problem. Geographyinitiative (talk) 02:07, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your correction. It is one of my earliest maps uploaded under my previous username "Soumya-8974". It is a rather oversimplified map of religion in Greater Kashmir due to the lack of good data available for the whole region. I may upload a more detailed map of religion in Indian-administered Kashmir (i.e. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh). Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 02:52, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

What was your criteria for moving systems into Category:Subterranean rapid transit in the United States from Category:Rapid transit in the United States? All of these systems have a mix of underground and at-grade/elevated sections; some like the Chicago L are mostly elevated. Some other systems with subway sections (including the all-subway LACMTA B and D lines) you did not move into this category.

Your statement My response Support renaming this category to Times of day (plural name in order to be consistent with COM:CAT). "Times of day" is WP:MADEUP. Native English speakers don't say that--they say "Time of day". COM:CAT#Category names points out that "General themes or activities require a name in singular form usually". "Time of day" works this way, presumably because its cardinality is limited and thus native speakers treat it as an uncountable noun. Category:Spans of time already exists and can be used for small time units like Second, Minute and Hours. The fact that you describe this category as "time units" is evidence that it too is WP:MADEUP. ("Units of time" is also acceptable, but "Spans of time" sounds like someone who programs in C# decided to use the name of their data structure instead of the common English name.) People shouldn't be inventing names for categories--they should be using the common name an English speaker would use. Also, let me point out that I wasn't the insane editor who was trying to lump together "Seconds", "Minutes", and "Hours" into the same category as "Dawn", "Morning", "Afternoon", "Evening", "Dusk", and "Night". Renamed Category:Parts of a day to Category:Times of day per consensus and COM:CAT. Let me point out that you didn't actually have consensus. You just chose a WP:MADEUP name that you came up with based on your partial reading of COM:CAT#Category names. At least what you chose is close to what a native English speaker would actually use instead of the wide variety of other opinions which were also really clumsily WP:MADEUP.
- Thank you for challenging my closure and the opinions are too strong to argue with. As I've already shown in my userpage (User:Sbb1413/babel), English is not my first language and I know that "what time of day is it?" is what a native speaker would say. I thought categories using common nouns will generally be in plural with certain exceptions. Spans of time should be discussed separately, as it wasn't discussed in that CFD thoroughly. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 06:47, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- @DanielPenfield: One thing to note that Commons doesn't really have any equivalent of Wikipedia's WP:MADEUP, and there are several categories with so-called MADEUP names. Wikipedia's policies and guidelines doesn't really apply to Commons, and it has its own guidelines regarding category names. However, we should strive to follow established terms instead of terms made out of thin air. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 02:42, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

Your statement My response I thought categories using common nouns will generally be in plural with certain exceptions. Here's a big part of the problem: You don't know what a common noun versus a proper noun is, so you don't actually know that those terms are completely irrelevant to this discussion. The relevant terms are countable noun versus uncountable noun. "Time of day" functions like an uncountable noun in English as evidenced by the term "Times of day" sounding completely WP:MADEUP. Also, since COM:CAT##Category names doesn't explicitly use the terms "countable noun" or "uncountable noun", you're going to willfully ignore the "General themes or activities require a name in singular form usually" statement there as well. Spans of time should be discussed separately, as it wasn't discussed in that CFD thoroughly. You're confused. I am not the editor who is defending the insane decision to mix categories dealing with "Spans of time"/"Time spans" (which really should be "Time units" or "Units of time" instead of a name inspired by the C Sharp (programming language)) in with "Parts of a day"/"Time of day"/"Times of day". These really should be separated and that needs to be explicitly stated in this discussion. I stated this in this discussion because of the level of insanity and because the person who raised it was veering completely off topic. The fact that I responded to the insane claim that somehow "Spans of time"/"Time spans" should be mixed in with "Parts of a day"/"Time of day"/"Times of day" doesn't mean that I somehow don't understand the "(generally) one category per CfD" convention. One thing to note that Commons doesn't really have any equivalent of Wikipedia's WP:MADEUP, and there are several categories with so-called MADEUP names. Yes, I am aware that Commons has many, many glaring holes in COM:CAT and that people frequently use those holes to claim that the status quo is somehow acceptable. Wikipedia's policies and guidelines doesn't really apply to Commons Yes, because COM:CAT doesn't address this glaring hole, you're going to use that to justify a name that you literally WP:MADEUP. You know that fixing COM:CAT to address the issue of WP:MADEUP names versus established precedent outside of Commons is impossible, because most editors seem to be addicted to narcissistically creating neologisms in their own image rather than using longstanding English terms. However, we should strive to follow established terms instead of terms made out of thin air. Yes, so why didn't you? Thanks for the lecture about a principle that you didn't follow.
- @DanielPenfield: I have now read COM:CAT#Category names and now understand where I should use singular and plural. Next time, I won't do the mistake and follow established norms. Thank you for the rant and happy uploading. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 06:58, 19 January 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for cleaning Category:Writing! I did not quite know what to do with the rest of the subcategories, so I am glad you made the choices. I'll try to move the files that are still in this disambiguous page to proper categories, but that is for the long term. JopkeB (talk) 06:54, 20 January 2024 (UTC)

Company towns[edit]
I'm going to make my case to you on this one and let you make the call. I disagree with https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Company_towns&diff=prev&oldid=851931192. Despite the term, "company towns" aren't necessarily "towns". Most company towns in Washington state are unincorporated, as is even the rather large Hershey, Pennsylvania. The former company town of Roslyn, Washington is legally a "city," despite having a population under 1,000. Etc. - Jmabel ! talk 21:12, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
Science on a Sphere[edit]
I'm curious why you disambiguated the two SoaS categories the way you did. Category:Science On a Sphere, United States was about the technology in general (note the infobox, and note it isn't about a specific implementation in the United States), whereas Category:Science On a Sphere, Science City, Kolkata is about a specific implementation of that technology, and would be a subcategory of the former (since they are the same tech, developed by NOAA). I would suggest undoing the disambig page, and moving that category back to its original name. — Huntster (t @ c) 07:15, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, thank you. I've undone the action. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 07:17, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

A new version request[edit]
Hi! Thank you for creating File:Meitei language distribution.svg. Recently, Meitei language was recognised as an official language of Assam also. Could you make the color darkness of Assam similar to that of Manipur? Thanks! :-) Haoreima (talk) 11:15, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the request. However, I need a source to verify whether Meitei is recognised as an official language (or additional official language) of Assam, since I can't find anything like this at Languages with legal status in India. Sbb1413 (he) (talk • contribs) 11:30, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

In addition, I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request: substing {{Delete}}, omitting the subpage, transclusion, and notice to the uploader. Here, {{Delete}} is not for speedy deletion, please see COM:DP. When you want to delete a page by manually using the {{Delete}} template (rather than the automatic Nominate for deletion or Nominate category for discussion tool in the Tools menu on the sidebar per COM:DR#Starting requests and COM:CFD#Starting requests), you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion (or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually policy or the "By hand" portion of COM:CFD#Starting requests, normally collapsed), otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people. Warning: such edits are not tolerated and have led to account blocks, as "We cannot work here with people who are not willing to follow our procedures, in particular for deletion requests." — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 12:58, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

Correction request[edit]
Hello.
Can you fix File:Black Sea Economic Cooperation.svg? In this map, a duplicate of Italy is covering the Balkans.
Can you add the border of South Sudan in File:BSEC Map.png?
Can you also color Vietnam in red in File:Countries without a primate city.svg? That country has no en:primate city, because en:Ho Chi Minh City is less than twice the size of en:Hanoi.
Can you also apply the exact same changes in File:Countries without a primate city.png by copy pasting the SVG version to this map?
Yours sincerely, 31.200.23.185 15:29, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

- I overlooked one country.
- Can you color New Zealand in gray in File:Countries without a primate city.svg and File:Countries without a primate city.png? That country has a en:primate city, because en:Auckland is 7 times more populous than en:Wellington. That is it. Again thank you very much. 31.200.23.185 08:13, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
