Categories are not hashtags[edit]
You only have to use one or two categories, the most specific possible. Generic or redundanct categories will be deleted. Thanks Sailko (talk) 18:23, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
Ah, ok, thanks, saves a lot of (guess) work. I should have read more about the cats beforehand. And by the way thank you for all your fine pictures. You really seem to have made a living out of it.) I hope you don't mind (too much) when I exchange some more of them in the future, especially from (Renaissance) Florence. Maybe I'll turn to you if I have a question I can't find a clear answer to. Nice to hear from you. MenkinAlRire (talk) 18:50, 8 December 2022 (UTC)
- That's cool, thanks. Please note that almost all main building of Florence have an individual category now. You can find the proper ones with the "search" button, or searching from Wikipedia or Wikidata and following the links to Commons. --Sailko (talk) 15:10, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

Your uploads to Category:Bargello[edit]
Hello, MenkinAlRire. Earlier this month, you uploaded some images -- nice images, by the way! -- and put them in Category:Bargello. That category is for a type of embroidery, so I wonder if they should have gone into Category:Museo del Bargello instead, or into one of its subcategories. I removed the images from the incorrect category, but you can find them in my contributions for 18 May between 08:37 and 08:38 UTC. If they belong in the museum category, I can easily add them there using Cat-a-lot from my contributions page. (So can you, if you use Cat-a-lot.) Let me know if I can help get these categorized correctly. -- Auntof6 (talk) 05:41, 19 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, Auntof6, you are right. Just because the wiki lemma for the museum is just 'Bargello', I didn't think about it. I don't use cat-a-lot, so it would be nice if you could change the false cats (into Category:Museo del Bargello). It won't happen again now. Thanks a lot, MenkinAlRire (talk) 19:05, 19 May 2023 (UTC)

- You may be right. I might have misunderstood the statement in their rights&reproduction statement. I cannot remember that I read the pop-up, when you move over the download button of the image. And these are not the only ones, there are five total from the DIA, all attributed to Donatello. I first wanted to write an e-mail to them and ask about it, too be sure. Now, after looking at the site again, I don't know, how I got to the conclusion that they were all public domain. It wasn't my intention to violate anything. I am sorry about that. Thank you for picking them out. I suppose you know better to take them down.

- There are more taken from the website of DIA in Category:Detroit Institute of Arts. - And I know now why, I didn't see the pop-up. I didn't allow scripts, so the image doesn't go into the viewer, but straight to full screen, so there is no disclaimer for each image. (I'll link to the pictures on the website instead.) Thanks, again. MenkinAlRire (talk) 00:22, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
File:Gedächtniskirche, Berlin-Charlottenburg, Egon Eiermann, 1959-63 Orgel.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Autopatrol given[edit]
Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. GPSLeo (talk) 16:13, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, GPSLeo, thank you very kindly. I'm relieved, otherwise it would have been frustrating. I suppose, I am not alone, in using Wiki quiet intuitively, and just consult the help pages, if necessary. So each new rule and restriction increases the complexity, the wood in the forest. But I also understand the need for some automated regulation, to reduce the workload for the admin. I hope, you made the right choice with this rule. - I was informed by user:Jmabel about the possibility to use {{Other version}} et al, so I might take more caution and use this if indicated by the extent of my edits. Anyway, thanks again, for all your work.
- P.S.: Could it be possible, that my new rights may have caused a blocking ("There seems to be a problem...resubmit the form" on red) of my logging-in on other devices, my phone and tablet? I tried several times on both (and again just now), deleted cookies, too, but without success. This never happened before. Do you have any idea, how to fix this, I am really baffled. Hi. Please review the guidance document. Exact means exact, not a variation. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 06:11, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- Wonderful./ I did that first. But someone said I should just tag with the dublicate template, maybe a false understanding. ****. I'll correct it. MenkinAlRire (talk) 07:20, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
