All logo designers are unknown as the logos come from the internet. And also they are used by several websites, so based on that there's a global violation of copyrights (?). Never claimed copyrights for any of this work though, if that counts. Based on this logic half of wikipedia's image content should be erased (?) Hi. You speedy deleted these two files. According to an administrator on fo.wikipedia the files was uploaded by fo:Bergur Dalsgaard who is the artist who made the drawings of fo:Børkur Hanagleiv.

There are 2 permissions related to the photos:

The problem is that there were no link to the images on Commons.

Queen's image disappeared

Hello! I've been trying to correct some of this stuff - it seems you deleted a redirect (?) and that deleted the renamed image from several articles, but not all. Can you try to fix all that somehow? None of these pictures were posted anywhere else except for Facebook page before that. I am the first to use them. I don't think writing myself a formal permission to use my own images makes any sense, and same goes for my own Logo which I designed and I've been using for years.

@Arcisse: Non, ce n'est pas nécessaire d'envoyer les photos. Envoyez seulement l'adresse à laquelle vous les avez importées. Ajoutez à la description, dans le champ "Permission", {{OTRS pending}}, et elles ne seront pas supprimées avant un mois. Il faut aussi que vous ajoutiez une licence. I have discussed the rights with the photographers in advance, and they are all OK with publishing them on wikipedia under the creative commons license. Do you have any idea how I could upload the photos again, without getting misunderstandings and upset other moderators like yourself?

I'm new here, and not everything is completely clear to me yet.

The current photos are very outdated.

Can you please reconsider your decision regarding the removal of this photograph for which there is no risk in my opinion for copyright? Indeed, this photo was taken by Ghislaine Dupont murdered in Kidal November 2, 2013 and from the camera of Claude Verlon also murdered in Kidal that same November 2, 2013.

At the time of this tragedy numerous press and TV media have taken this photo Claude Verlon had chosen to illustrate on his Facebook profile and that he had decided to put in public on his Facebook that he was alive and here is the link https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=556014067769577&set=a.198851686819152.42745.100000829670437&type=1&theater and you will see that the picture is public: no one has ever claimed any copyright especially as Claude had chosen to put this picture in a public fashion on his Facebook page.

Also, I ask you not to delete this photo I'll put it online so that it can illustrate the Wikipedia page of Claude and this out of respect for his memory as being close to him months before his death I know he especially liked this picture and he would be happy that she could illustrate his Wikipedia page.

Bonsoir Yann, Merci pour ton message. Pour l'anglais, ce n'est pas moi : c'est google traduction... Top que je puisse t'écrire en français car c'est plus facile pour moi d'autant que j'ai du mal à apprehender Wikipedia et Wikicommons : je m'y suis mise pour Claude... En fait, ce n'est pas possible d'obtenir l'accord de la personne qui a prise la photo car, d'après ce que m'avait dit Claude, c'est Ghislaine Dupont qui aurait pris la photo à partir de l'appareil de Claude et ils ont été tous les deux (c'étaient des reporters pour la chaîne de radio RFI) assassinés à Kidal le 2 novembre 2013 juste après la liberation des otages d'AREVA... Bonsoir Yann, C'est sympa d'avoir pris le temps de me répondre : il n'y a plus qu'à espérer que personne ne supprime la photo en faisant prevue d'un peu de compassion... Et en 2083, j'aurai rejoint Claude : alors si il n'y a pas de solution, tampis pour cette photo qu'il aurait aimé, je pense, qu'elle puisse illustrer sa page Wikipedia. C'est très strict en effet les règles de Commons car les journaux TV ont eux repris cette photo à partir de la page publique de son profil facebook dès le 2 novembre 2013 et la presse aussi comme l'article du journal Le Parisien pour lequel je t'ai envoyé le lien. Ce serait étonnant qu'ils aient pris le risque de diffuser cette photo s'ils craignaient d'être poursuvis ensuite pour des droits d'auteur ? A mon sens, si ils ont utilisé cette photo, c'est qu'ils savent qu'il n'y a pas de problème. Sais-tu à qui je peux écrire pour qu'exceptionnellement et étant donné le contexte, je puisse demander une dérogation pour cette photo ? Par avance, un grand merci Yann. Re-bonsoir Yann, Ci-dessous le lien d'un article du Figaro à ce sujet : http://www.lefigaro.fr/actualite-france/2011/02/24/01016-20110224ARTFIG00600-reseaux-sociaux-une-photo-publiee-est-elle-publique.php Dans cet article, on indique "Des exceptions concernent les personnages publics dans l'exercice de leur fonction : si une personnalité est photographiée dans le cadre de sa profession, le diffuseur n'a pas besoin d'une autorisation. Un ministre photographié pendant un discours, par exemple, ne peut s'opposer à la diffusion de sa photo." Or, malheureusement, Claude est devenu un personage public suite à la tragédie de sa mort et sur cette photo il a justement été photographié dans le cadre de sa profession, lors de son avant dernier reportage à Kidal en juillet 2013. Pour le coup, la photo serait donc du fait des circonstances du domaine public ? Je suis désolée d'insister mais je pense que cela vaut le coup d'approfondir le sujet dans ce contexte très particulier et ce serait bien que l'article du Wikipedia sur Claude puisse être illustré par une photo de lui sur le terrain. Si je prends quelqu'un en photo dans la rue, je ne peux utiliser cette photo sans le consentement de cette personne, sauf si c'est un personnage public, même si je détiens le droit d'auteur sur la photo. Bonsoir Yann, Merci pour ta réponse qui m'éclaire sur les nuances entre droit à l'auteur et droit à l'image. Faites comme vous voulez pour cette photo : je ne peux malheureusement pas faire ressusciter Claude et Ghislaine pour leur demander une autorisation et pourtant combien je le voudrais tant ! Tout cela est bien triste et bien désappointant pour une photo que des médias ont tout de suite repris au moment de leur assassinat et qui n'ont jamais eu de problème de droit d'auteur.... Claude adorait cette photo de lui : il me l'avait dit... Triste monde, triste société où on ne peut pas essayer de faire plaisir aux disparus... Dans ce type de situation "exceptionnelle" et que je ne souhaite à personne de vivre, cela serait bien que Wikicommons étudie ce cas particulier. Peux-tu me dire à quelle adresse mail je dois écrire afin de pouvoir solliciter une demande particulière pour ce cas atypique qui ne peut malheureusement pas rentrer dans une case standard ? Bonjour Yann, Je comprends ton point de vue. Pour ce qui est de l'auteur de cette photo, Claude m'avait dit que c'était Ghislaine qui l'avait prise et probablement à partir de l'appareil de Claude. Puisque les règles ici sont très strictes et si on continue sur ce cadre strict, il faudrait encore pouvoir prouver ce dire, ce qui n'est pas possible du fait du triste contexte... Les exceptions confirmant la règle et comme la société évoule depuis la nuit des temps grâce aux cas particuliers qui font évoluer les règles, je souhaiterais que ce cas très spécifique puisse être étudié car ce n'est pas un cas "classique" qui peut rentrer dans une "case". Egalement, j'imagine mal les héritiers, dans cette situation, aller réclamer des droits d'auteur sur toutes les photos publiées de Ghislaine et Claude depuis cette tragédie : ce serait pathétique de leur part.... Comme je m'imagine mal également aller les solliciter pour ce faire : c'est déjà bien trop douloureux pour tout le monde... Aussi, je te remercie beaucoup par avance de m'indiquer, si tu sais comment faire, la démarche que je dois suivre sur Commons pour que le cas particulier de cette photo puisse être édudié et revu suite au contexte très particulier voir excepionnel mais aussi "humain". Can you redelete the file File:Sultanate-e-Khudadad of Mysore under Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan.jpg, which is a reupload of File:Flag of the Sultanat-e-Khudadad of Mysore.jpg that you had deleted earlier and is copied from this video-gaming forum. Also the uploader is a checkuser-confirmed sock of User:Mughal Lohar, a prolific sockpuppeteer on en-wiki, whose accounts often load copyrighted files and files with false source information/description here on commons (eg, User_talk:Binggo666). Fontaine de Poblet

Bonjour Yann, Pourquoi avoir supprimer la "Fontaine de Poblet" que j'avais mis sur wikimedia pour mon article sur les monastères? Cette fontaine se trouve sur wikimedia depuis le 4 juin 2005. Son auteur , sa source (Flickr) me paraissent parfaitement identifiés et approuvés depuis cette date. Ayant trouvé la photo un peu foncée, je l'avais éclaircie et travaillé un peu les "rouge" et renforcé le contraste. Avais-je oublié quelque chose lorsque je l'ai remis sur wikimedia, c'est possible ? Il es est de même pour la photo du Wimborne Minster que j'avais également prise sur wikimedia et qui s'y trouvait depuis le 23 novembre 2009 avec toutes les autorisations voulues, me semble-t-il. J'avais également, pour mon article, travaillé un peu les couleurs de la photo, enlevé les poubelles et redressé la tour, le minster. Si la suppression de la fontaine, ne me gène pas beaucoup car je prendrai la photo initiale, pour le minster de Wimborne, cela me gène un peu plus car la photo initiale, si elle correspond parfaitement au besoin de cette partie du paragraphe sur la couverture des monastères, avec sa couverture en plomb, ne me plaît pas, raison pour laquelle je l'avais rectifiée. Mais bof je trouverai une autre photo, je suis habitué à ce genre de petit désagrément, qui souvent est de ma faute, mais il m'arrive parfois de ne pas savoir comment faire, surtout avec les photos en provenance de Flickr. Je pense qu'au départ du refus, le robot de wikimedia manque un peu de programmation compréhensible. This is a mistake

Yann, You are mistaken, images that go up are rather public domain . Maybe because you do not know Portuguese , did not realize that these are posters and photos of the working class from the center of the CUT documentation. They are public domain and I quoted the sources . By eliminating the pictures he had climbed the server you threw in the trash an afternoon of volunteer work. Is there any way to reverse this? Duplicates

Hi Yann. Is it necessary to have those following 2 Files. I mean, check the Metadata, they are (to me) exactly identical. The only difference(s) are the Instant ID respectively the Docu ID (wich is „normal” because of the Timestamp difference (Algorithm)). All the rest is exactly the same, so wouldnt it be worth considering to delete one, as reason for duplicate(s) ? Unnecessary Server Resources being used. Ok this may seem small in one case, but imagine about a few hundred of these kinds.

Thanks for deleting categories

I would like to thank you for deleting the many categories, I have tagged the last days. As you may noticed, an IP user created lots of categories for individual German locomotives and multiple units during July, most of them with just one or two pictures each, resulting in cases with 10 subcategories for 13 pictures for instance. I am trying to clean up the mess by moving the pictures back, but it takes time. And yes, it leaves a lot of empty categories. My deletion proposals

Hi Yann, I don't delete images, I only flag them up for possible deletion by the administrators who do it. Wikipedia, of which the Commons is part, tries to work with democratic principles. This means that pictures are suggested for deletion, then left for comments for a week or so and finally an adminstator will come along and decide whether the picture should be deleted based on her/his opinion based on the Commons:Deletion policy and based on opinions others may have left. I have suggested hundreds for deletion and many have been deleted but many were saved. I'm cool with that, I know I'm not right all of the time. Thank you for your concern ("Nothing personal") but my skin is too thick to be bothered by stuff on Wikipedia. I'd like to thank you for your efforts in uploading images to the Commons. You will discover that the more individual the image is, with appropriate description, the less likely it is to be suggested for deltion. Random blonde girls in leather jackets add little to the project, but award ceremonies for Indian engineering universities are much more interesting. Thanks for your note and best wishes to you. Unjustified possible blocking

Hello. I'm here because you gave a last warning message to user В. Николов (Revision #170717707).

The trouble is he got only two copyright violations notices: to one of the first files he uploaded (justified, but he was a new user, could be excused)

And now the second one: the trouble with File:Bumble-bee-1.jpg which was totally my fault, for user В. Николов asked me if the image was commons-compatible here and I made a mistake of not looking at the original website to verify information about the file. Trouble was, this image was found on a free-images website stating copyright Cc-by-2.0 and we failed to notice that on flicker it was under different license CC BY-ND 2.0, not compatible with commons. And after I explained the mistake to him, he tried to request speedy file deletion, but put it on his talk page instead of the file itself (Revision #170666848). So, the second uploading of a non-free image was a mistake but not intentional one, but the one caused by misinformation on a website (and our failure to check it).

Anyway, В. Николов has some technical problems with proper license descriptions, but usually uses and uploads only images, published under compatible licenses. Moreover, he is a zoologist specializing in a narrow field of weevil insects — even if he has troubles with proper wiki code and descriptions, his contribution (and the fact that he can distinguish between different bugs that look identical to other users) is very useful, so it would be a shame for him to be blocked.

In the discussion about that matter I was informed by Japalina about the fact that photography is banned inside the Jewel House of the Tower of London. I really didn't know that before! Fixing Copyright on my images

I don't care that the other pages have been deleted since they were out-of-date for the subject, but I'd like to get this American Football Uniform image back with the proper copyright. I thought since I had heavily modified it it was my own work now but I realize that was the wrong copyright. I want to now attribute the copyright to the University and NCAA so that I can get it back on "legally" under fair use (I believe). @Magog the Ogre: I don't care about this template, but 1. you have only 2 comments, both opposing deletion, 2. A DR is probably not the right process for this.
