The Almost True Story of Birds of Paradise

"The Almost True Story of Birds of Paradise" started with Carolyn Gora's real Birds of Paradise plants finally blooming after being dormant for years. She realized that they looked like birds and painted dozens of paradoies with the Birds of Paradise as characters. The paintings were in a show "Birds of Paradise from Paradise." She realized that the bird characters could have their own story and "The Almost True Story of Birds of Paradise" was born. It's an "Ugly Ducking" type story. A boring green plant turns into an exciting, colorful plant. The plant turns into birds and the birds have adventures in a garden full of plants with animal names, that look like animals. Through Carolyn Gora's whimsical illustrations and dialogue, children will learn about plants and their animal names.
