THE ANGELS' SONG Christmas comes but once a year, And young and old rejoice, To sing the old beloved hymns With loud and eager voice. In Bethlehem a babe was born The earth and heavens rejoiced, While shepherds bent their wondering ears To hear angelic voice. The wise men on long ago Came from eastern lands. They traveled far to follow star With treasures in their hands. Gold, frankincense and myrrh, Were for the baby king. But priceless was His gift to them, Eternal song to sing. And round about His manger They, along with other folk Heard the song the angels sang Of peace and joy and hope. And now as friends and kin draw near, To celebrate Christ's birth, May peace and joy, the angels' song Be heard throughout the earth.

About the Author
Leila Leidtke began writing poems in high school and has continued writing them throughout her life. For many years she has written Christmas poems and sent them out as Christmas cards. Some of these poems are collected here, along with others. Leila is married and has three grandchildren. She makes her home in Delaware, Ohio with her husband and her dog, Champion.
